Concerns have been raised by the chairmen of education boards across the country over taking examinations in elective subjects only.

A meeting of the Inter-Provincial Chairmen of Education Boards was held in Karachi in which representatives of all the provinces participated.

The chairmen said that how will the rate of student marks in 2 elective subjects in matriculation be determined? And how will marks be given only on theory instead of practical exams? This formula will be detrimental to deserving students.

It was decided in the meeting that all the provinces should decide the formula in the meeting of their boards.

It may be recalled that Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood has announced that examinations will be compulsory this year while only optional subjects of ninth and tenth classes will be taken.
